Who are the Domherrenbears?

> deutsche Version

The family is constantly growing due to the fact that there is some kind of a virus which causes this disease – the Bearomania.

When did the febear start? It began in 1993 and, as always, it began really harmless. But at the present a day without mohair, needle, and thread is unbearable.

All the bears are completely hand made, we design the pattern charts and thus create an immense number of individuals that very often form small groups which are the basis of later series such as "Heinzelbears", "Crazy Bears", "Hairies", "Funny Faces" or Oldies which are part of the series “Once upon a time”.

Most of them have a size of five to sixteen centimetres. Exceptions are a rule because we also design according to our customers’ wishes.

Quality is a must. Only excellent material such as mohair, alpaca or fine mini-cloth is used and perfect craftsmanship is guaranteed.

The lovingly created faces bring the bears to life and make them see, hear, smell, and talk. They develop their own personality, their own taste. Some of them even demand their own, special dresses. Others are not interested in such bits and pieces, they have different ideas, several think of food only.

Their curiosity makes them leave their home, travel and discover the world, meet other humans and of course – bears. That’s what they like.

Many people ask about exhibitions, competitions and cups we won. Well, come and visit us then you’ll see yourself. Here are some:

  • 1996: 3rd prize "Teddy Contest" in Hamburg
  • 1997: 1st prize "Christmas-Teddy" in Hamburg
  • 1998: 1st prize "Master-Teddy" in Neustadt/Coburg
  • 1999: 3rd prize "Teddybear World" in Wiesbaden, 3rd prize "Euro-Teddy" in Essen
  • 2000: 3rd prize "Teddybear World" in Wiesbaden, 1st prize "Let Me Be Your Teddybear"
  • 2001: 1st prize "Buxtebear" in Buxtehude

We stopped participating in competitions and concentrate on the creation of our bears. They are not interested in winning cups and prizes anymore. All that counts are the bears.

When you have given home to a “Domherrenbär” listen well when he speaks to you. He himself is a good listener, too and gives comfort to your soul.

If you don’t believe me, just ask the little ones ...
